About Environmental Public Notice Application:

The SCDES Environmental Public Notice application helps users discover environmental public notices that exist in their community and obtain information about them. This is a stand alone GIS viewer deployed by DES and can be used by citizens and staff on a desktop PC, mobile phone or tablet device.

Using the Application

The Environmental Public Notice application offers a simple way for users to locate public notices and information about the notices near a location of interest. To identify a location, simply click on the map, enter an address in the search box or use your current location. Your searched location will then be displayed on the map and relevant notice information will be presented.

Finding an Area of Interest

There are three primary ways to identify a search location of interest:

1) Interact directly with the map by clicking to search based on a particular location
2) Use the Geolocate Button to search by your current physical location
3) Use the Geocode Button to search by a specific address

Notice Information

After searching for a respective location, relevant public notice information will be presented at the bottom of the screen. This information includes a list of the closest public notices and the proximity to each. The tables are sorted by notice type with the closest notices appearing at the top of each list. The different notice types and their display icons are as follows:

All Notices
Statewide
Bureau of Air Quality
Bureau of Land and Waste Management
Division of Ocean and Coastal Resource Management
Bureau of Water

In addition to the information displayed in the tables, the icons on the map contain a popup that lists more specific information about the notice. This popup can be displayed by either clicking on the icon or selecting a record from one of the tables. The following are the attributes displayed in the popup window and a brief description of each:
